This will likely be a somewhat long post, as there is a lot to unpack here.
Once again it would appear that a major update to one of the core elements of the site has been pushed through without asking for input from members and models alike on our input for the planned changes BEFORE making them.
This time it’s Fan Club that has undergone a completely unnecessary rework from my perspective, especially as it’s created numerous issues on both sides, and creates questions / concerns.
Firstly, what’s happened / been removed?
Flirt has rolled out its Fan Club 2.0, and in doing so there have been some fairly big changes, the most notable is that all things FC related are no longer held on the mainland Flirt4Free site, if you navigate to the old Fan Club page you are no longer able to sort rooms to see which are popular, by price, alphabetically or by who is currently online, which if you are looking to buy a models Fan Club, would’ve been a great place to start (mainly by being able to sort by the most popular, as this showed which rooms were actively doing / using the Fan Club shows / perks on a regular basis).
Additionally, the sub page which allowed members to manage their Fan Club memberships has also been removed in favour of a new external site (more on that in a bit), which therefore means you are no longer able to quickly and easily see your membership history, current active memberships, or set up automatic renewals for when a membership expires, and the new system for doing these things is just more of a nuisance than an improvement.
While these two pages have been gutted, the original ways to join a models Fan Club have NOT changed, this can still be done directly in the models room, or by navigating to their bio page.
The old Fan Club sites for each individual model that you would have access to by joining their Fan Club have also been dropped, as they were definitely dated in appearance and usage and are being replaced with the aforementioned external site, this part of the change is something I support I just don’t think the execution has been handled well personally.
So what’s new?
To replace the pages that have been removed, Flirt is moving everything Fan Club related to Flirt.Fans, an external site not linked to the main site, the first hurdle with this was / is figuring out logins, after some playing around it looks as though this is set up with the default screen name in use at the time of the changeover on Tuesday 8th July, and your password for logging in will be the same as the one used to access the main site.
Now when you do manage to log in (and provided you dont receive any errors, I’ve been getting a HTTP 500 error each time I try log in myself) you will have all your active memberships listed in a table on the homepage, alongside the physical end date and time.
No issues with this (again, if / when it does work) as I think this is a better way of displaying how long is left on your membership than the generic “days” number it used to show, as I’ve been caught off guard and had a membership end midway through a FanClub show before thinking I still had 1 day left on my access.
The new site is set up to be more like your typical social media site, think Tik Tok or Instagram, it is very sterile looking and I don’t really have any complaints on it, though I admittedly also don’t really have any praise either at this point.
Another addition is that members will receive automated emails regarding FanClub, at the very least for when a model gifts you access (I will be able to test if one is sent as a confirmation when buying the access once my existing access ends) which is a nice addition in my opinion even if it’s one of the smaller changes made with this rework and I think it would also be good to receive a notification / reminder when a membership is about to end as a reminder that you’ll need to renew it soon if you so choose to do so.
So what’s gone wrong / what is the feedback?
The first big issue we’ve experienced after this change is that it looks to have reeked some havoc on existing memberships, with numerous members having their access cancelled without the models input, something that has affected both gifted and PURCHASED Fan Club accesses, and I can’t see any logical reason as to why this would be the case especially for those memberships where the member purchased the access themselves.
There also seems to be confusion with using the new site, firstly with its existence, as I had to be directed to it by Support staff and was not able to navigate to it myself easily via Flirts main site.
And so far both the models and other members I have spoken with that have tried it so far are all saying it’s not obvious how to get to, nor is it easy to navigate when you finally do get to it, which is to be expected, but I also agree it’s not the most obvious site to navigate which is impressive given how bare bones it is right now.
What are my thoughts / concerns?
I don’t think the start of July was the time to release this revamp, firstly and foremost because of FOTY, one of the main categories in the biggest contest of the year is for Fan Club, and I don’t believe overhauling the entire thing like this should have been done until the start of next year, the changes raise questions about how it’s going to impact current standings and how ranks are determined going forward.
I also don’t understand why we are once again pushing through a big change without first proposing it and opening a discussion with the models and members using the site, seeing as we are the ones that are directly affected by those changes?
Think back to the whisper change last year and the absolute shit show that was, with multiple models and members very vocally criticising the change until it was eventually reverted.
Something I would have hoped you would learn from and create a forum thread the next time a big change is being planned so you can get feedback / ideas BEFORE the change takes place.
TL:DR
Flirt has revamped Fan Clubs and how they work, and it has not been a smooth transition as far as I can tell so far, with the new additions being riddled with issues, and the changes making finding / accessing Fan Clubs worth joining harder than before.
This is obviously still a VERY new change to the site, so thoughts and opinions will continue to develop, but I wanted to create a channel for actually communicating / discussing thoughts and ideas regarding this change
